Grabengasse

Przyokopowa

History

Laid out in the first half of the 17th century after the construction of the bastion fortifications, on both sides of a drainage ditch running the length of the lane. Around 1650, the southern side of the street facing the rampart was called Kranichgasse (Crane Lane), while the opposite side had no name. In 1800, it was counted as part of Allmodengasse. In 1817, together with today's Grüner Weg, it was called Letzter Graben (Last Ditch). Later it was mostly unnamed on 19th-century maps; the current name Grabengasse (Ditch Lane) has been in use since 1886.
