Gustav - Nachtigal - Straße

Słowińców

History

Around 1940, the street An der Sasper Kehle — so named because it lay along the watercourse connecting the Sasper See with the Tote Weichsel (Dead Vistula) — was renamed Gustav-Nachtigal-Straße. After the war, there were some misunderstandings with this street. The first maps and street directories listed this street as ul. Słowińców (Slovincian Street) and the former Lünette Knesebeck as ul. Śnieżna (Snow Street). However, this was probably an error, because today they are named exactly the other way around: Gustav-Nachtigal-Straße is ul. Śnieżna, and Lünette Knesebeck is ul. Słowińców.
