History

Huhnerberg (Chicken Hill) was created between 1630 and 1650 during the development of the Niederstadt (Lower Town). Around 1650, the lane was called "3. Bruckengasse" (3rd Bridge Lane), as a continuation of the Thornsche Weg, which at that time was known as the 1st and 2nd Bridge Lane.

Although the designation Huhnerberg first appears in 1763, the alternative name "Bei der Knuppelbrucke" (By the Log Bridge) was still in use as late as 1796.
