Kleine Hosennähergasse

Dziana

History

Kleine Hosennahergasse (Small Trouser Seamsters' Lane) is not mentioned in 1357, although it certainly already existed. In 1382, it is called "novum raas" (new wetland), and as late as 1456 "nye raes alias halvegasse." From 1459, the designation "kleine hasennegergasse" appears - apparently a humorous slip of the scribe's pen, which turned the Hosennaher (trouser seamster) into a Hasenneger (a nonsensical combination of "hare" and an archaic word).

Initially called "Halvegasse" together with the Grosse Hosennahergasse, it received its own name as the smaller parallel street from the middle of the 15th century onward.
