Schleicherts Gang
n. e.
History
The name was used in 1814 for a path that led from the later Mottlaugasse, along the then connection between the Old and New Mottlau, to the Steinschleuse (Stone Sluice). Since the construction of the railway facilities, the freight station has been located here.
The name could derive from the surname or rather nickname "Schleichert." More likely, however, it was a popular joke: it was simply a shortcut path on which the "sneakers" (Schleicherts) cut their routes short.
