Schuitensteg
Straży Portowej
History
The stretch of the Mottlau riverbank bearing this name was, before the establishment of steam traffic, the landing place for horse-drawn barges (Schuiten), which from here provided regular passenger service between Danzig and Weichselmünde through the Schuitenlake, later expanded into the Kaiserhafen (Imperial Harbor).
After the war, the street was called ul. Straży Portowej (Harbor Guard Street); since December 1953, it has been ul. Wiosny Ludów (Street of the Revolutions of 1848).
